About
Traditional Sand & Cement, with polypropylene fibres which are added and dispersed during the mixing process. The fibres are incorporated to inhibit shrinkage and settlement cracking as well as increasing strength and durability. Flow Screed (aka. Liquid Screed), which can be laid substantially
thinner than conventional materials, flows into whatever shape is required while filling all gaps and voids. It is popular with underfloor heating, as it has almost twice the thermal conductivity of traditional screed – so offers reduced energy consumption.
About
Ferns Drylining are approved installers of Metsec Steel Framing System (SFS). Infill walling forms a secondary structure which is fixed between the primary super structure at floor and soffit. It is generally positioned at the slab edge allowing insulation and external finishes to be installed continuously outside the main structural frame.
Taping & Jointing
A prerequisite if the building element is to achieve specified levels or fire resistance and sound insulation. Jointing materials are applied, either manually or mechanically, to seal the lining. A number of jointing specifications are available.
Skim Coat Plastering
A coat plaster is applied to plasterboard, giving many of the advantages of a traditional solid plaster finish, such as robustness and acoustic enhancement.
Two Coat Plastering
A substrate of HardWall or Bonding coat is first applied to give an even and sound background that can then accommodate the second and final coat of plaster.
About
We install many different types of insulation such as Rigid PIR boards, which are used in sloping rafter ceilings, flat roofs and timber frame homes. Quilted loft roll for loft insulation and acoustic, thermal and fire insulation can be installed where required.
About
This is usually installed at the angle between the wall and ceiling but can also be used to add further decorative effects in alcoves, reveals and other areas where there is a change of surface direction.
Through Colour Render
A one coat, ready mixed and weather resistant decorative render, which is suitable for most types of brick or blockwork. Available in many different colours and textures, and with Ashlar lines or Rough Cast systems.
Insulated Render
An external wall system insulated by wrapping the building in a thermally resistant envelope. Each system can be finished in a wide range of renders with varying colours and textures.
Render Board Systems
Render boards can be installed to areas that require a clad board where suitable blockwork isn’t available. Boards then receive an acrylic-based, composite or decorative finish.
